Key Lime (Citrus aurantifolia) Key lime has a strong content of citric acid and is high in bioflavonoids. Limes were used on ships, in antiquity, to prevent the sailors from coming down with scurvy. It has a sweet, pleasant fragrance, and is widely used as an antiseptic, an antibacterial, and an antiviral. It has the ability to lighten dark spots, it has anti-aging properties, it tightens pores, is a toner, and reduces oil production. It is also commonly used in blends to help alleviate depression.
